Where ya going to move Bob? Beaur-o-crazys are in every state. The issue is actually a national/federal/tribes problem. How can ya fight that?

Stick around the Northwest Dawhunt. We like ya here just fine.

The biologists seem to think that Coho are a haverestable resource for commercial use. They contend that Coho do not bite and therefore there is no reason to give sportsfishermen a good shot at them. This is what I was told by an ODFW biologist. I told him he should tell the limit of coho in the bottom of my boat that they are not supposed to bite. graemlins/icon_argue.gif Really ticked me off so bad I gave up the whole thing on the Columbia. I know I bit off my nose to spite my face but it is frustrating.
Good Luck

If only the sports anglers were half as organized as the commercial anglers were, maybe we'd get more preferential treatment as well.

We had a chance some years back. It was on the ballot to get the nets out of the rivers and the commercial folks did a real smart thing. They shot back that if they had to get out the sports angler would have to give it up too. Guess what, it scared enough sports anglers to not vote it in. Oh well. :hoboy:

Coho don't bite? Guess it was not an ODFW bozo that yelled at me and my brother from a passing boat to get a bigger net when I dipped a 10 pound coho out of the CR last year 'bout this time, with my trout net. I reached down in the bottom of my boat and lifted the big net with the fish's silvery twin all tangled up with the wart's front treble in the netting. Yelled at him that doubles sometimes call for unusual tactics, he shut up real fast. Sure not the only double we've had pulling warts in the last couple of years. Was looking forward to my annual trip to the big river coming up, now that the nets are in I am really bummed. Oh well, there is always the Umpqua..... big take downs to ya....

Whine, whine, whine! Listen I-fishers, if you don't go to the meetings than the only whining the officials hear is from the netters! graemlins/icon_argue.gif We need to attend these meetings when they are in session, so they can hear our voices. There is a meeting next Tuesday evening on the next 3 year STURGEON plan. There will be both sides there.....

compiled by Columbian staff
PUBLIC meeting scheduled Tuesday night to discuss sturgeon fishing reductions in 2003

A PUBLIC meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, to discuss sport and commercial Columbia River sturgeon management for 2003 through 2006.

It's no secret that white sturgeon numbers in the Columbia River between the coast and Bonneville Dam are declining.

Officials from Washington and Oregon say sport and commercial catches need to be reduced, and Tuesday's meeting will begin discussion how that might be accomplished.

In September, the Vancouver Wildlife League voted for a 25 percent reduction of the overall sturgeon harvest to 37,500 with 7,500 for the commercial fleet and 30,000 for sportsmen.

Washington's Fish and Wildlife Commission will make its policy decisions on sturgeon management Dec. 6 and 7 in Mount Vernon. The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will decide Dec. 13 while meeting in Eugene.

This meeting is on sturgeon, but it is a meeting that we are welcomed to attend. So like I mentioned before, if you want your voices heard than show up. Whining on the bulletin board won't help as much because the states don't read em anyway! :depressed:
