decided to go to the sandy yesterday and see what all the hubbub was about.got there around two and crossed and headed down to the whole.plenty of people not much action going on so i headed downstream found a nice slot and after a few casts i was into a big fish tirned out to be a big dark nook after a short battle i kicked it back to the river.moved on downstream to next slot after a short while later i managed to hook and land a real nice fat hen (coho).soon i was visited by some fellow fisherman and we chatted and i revealed my game plan.i told them fish the fast water and they went on their way i watched as they walked downstream and passed many prime areas i thought did they listen to a word i said.the slot where i caught the coho was cold now so i walked down to the next slot after a few casts wham! summer steelie what a blast this fish was hot and not very happy but i finally persuaded it to the bank.about two hours of fishen and i was on my way out with a limit i could barely hold my laughter as i walked back out past the crowds.i sure hope those guys keep fishing where they do it sure makes it easy for me, although i would be hard pressed to try this on the weekend

Great report!!! Good idea to move into fast water....any fish there are likely to be more agressive

BC,
I'm thinking of going this Sunday and doing the same exact thing, what was your bait of choice yesterday ?

Thanks,
JK

Thanks for the great report. I'm thinking of heading out to the Sandy tomorrow morning and will definitely keep your advice in mind.

I was up there a week ago and for awhile I stayed above the main group of people quite a ways. Got some good strikes on both spinners and a pink plug. No people, more fish what's not to love about that?!

man alive, i should've stayed up above. for so few cars, there were so many people. the only folks i saw packing out fish were coming from downstream of the main hole. i fished up from there, but only drifted it with no luck. i'm done with that area for the year. too much traffic for me.

Are you guys referring to the Cedar Creek area or farther down river? I'm going out (yeh on a weekend) tomorrow. Been trying the lower river near Lewis and Clark with no hook ups.

Fisheromen and I hit above Dodge this last Wednesday; 2 adults, 2 jacks; lost 3 headshakers on spinners and had one come completely out of the water at my feet as I was bringing the hook/eggs out of the water at my feet! Tons of fish in tail outs and faster water. Alot of darkies but a few bright or just turning fish. Not alot of agressive fish right now compared to this time last year. You hit it hard and know something about fishing and your bound to hook up with something.
