The guys fishing thought it was a steelhead. I beg to differ. You make the call... http://www.ifish.net/uploads/182115282.jpg

Doesn't look like the tail of a Silver. I'd guess Steelhead. Looks like Loren's Drift on the Trask River too.

Ok I will take a stab at this.

Tail doesnt appear to have enough V for silver, but the gum line would help if I could see it.

I wish I could see spots on it (poor photo) to better identify if it is a chinook, but the head looks like a chinook to me.

It just doesnt have the look of a steelhead, I am going with a small chinook,

wish I could actually see the fish in real.

And I dont think it is lorens drift  looks more like clack to me

Hen silver. The snout, and the anal fin usually give it away.

Roy, how can you call that a Chinook you have never seen one....

I would also call that the Clack.

Hello,

The tail is a giveaway - the guys were right - its a stealhead.
Both salmon have 'V' tails.

Cheerio'

I cannot see how that can be a steelhead. I have gotten lots of bright, dark, old, new and steelhead that are heading back to the ocean. Not one has looked like that. Can't say I have seen a hooked noses steelhead.
For my 2 cents I'm pushing toads a nice big fat hen silver.
I wish I could look inside her mouth.

I'm with bankbound--that is not Lorens drift and that is definitely a coho--flat tail and all!

Looks almost exactly like one of the nice silvers we kept yesturday!!

Definatelly a silver hen. The tails on our fish didnt have any more of a V to them than that fish.

Chuckdog, all I want to know is who in the heck is that? I know exactly where it is and no one has guessed right yet on the river. For me the location and the look also tell me its most definitely a silver.

Evan - You're right...
As Fisheromen mentioned to me earlier, there's no way that a summer steelie would be that short and fat!#@! Summers typically have the telltale steelie stripe going on by now.
