Well,it'll be 5 weeks tommorrow that I was rammed while fishing at Frenchmans Bar.Quite a few of you remember when it happened and have asked me how it was resolved.
Herein lies the tale.
It took 2 1/2 weeks just to get the adjuster to look at the boat. While I was waiting,I took the Ugly thing back to L&J Marine [they built the thing back in 72]and got an estimate,3850.00,in writing. When the adjuster looked at the estimate,he decided it looked OK.GOOD NEWS.
Now,however it tries to get ugly.
The insurance co. decides that this old boat should be TOTALED
The ins.co.said that they don't consider the engine as part of the boat---they only look at the hull, the engine can be put on another boat
HAY---LADY----THIS IS AN INBOARD JET PUMP HO BOY HAY HOWDY.
In their way of thinking, the hull is only worth scrap and they want to deduct that # from the estimate and pay me the differance.
If I take her offer[like sure]they keep the boat
GOOD LORD do any of you know where I can buy a hull only that a Ford V8 and a Hamilton jet will fit,the hull needs to be 21ft long, and according to them its worth all of 3400.00.Thats with the R&R on engine etc.
Not to mention that we all know how much you become attached to these fishing partners after 15 years.
This system they use bites it boys and girls
I countered and told her to just hold the paper work until she heard from my lawer. This may have been the first time she had heard anything I said.
Now that I had her attention,I was able to plead my case. After explaining the obvious[costs of boats engines etc.]we finaly agreed that I would take 3500.00 in damages AND keep the boat
Now if I can find a shop who can streighten her[the boat  ]out ,all will be good on the river
