Nope, didn't borrow the jacket ... it's to draw your eyes away from the extra chins that seem to show up whenever someone points a camera at me. :rolleyes:

The first fish was a classic herring bite - tug, tug, tug, TUGGGG. The second was lots of fun. I knew my herring was just off the bottom at 20 feet and I'd passed into 22 feet without adjusting depth or speed ... I felt a tap ... tap tap .... mud cat? ... tap ... tap ..... wait ... tap ... reel a little ... tap tap .... reel a little more ... tap ... lift rod to feel for weight - nothing .... tap tap .... reel more, lift again .... ZING ZING ZING :grin: I think the fish picked up the herring and swam towards me. I felt my lead hitting bottom, but Mr. Spotty was happy to chew the bait and follow along until he got tugged. A very satisfying fish. I guess it was to make up for 8 hours of crabbing without a keeper.

Marty, did you actually break down and fish herring or were you still sticking with spinners? Either way, nice fish! Sometimes it really sucks living in Central Oregon. I've already put over 2000 miles on my rig in the last month and a half and chinook season and hunting seasons are just starting. Oh well, gotta do what you gotta do.

BTW, there's an easy solution to avoiding wrapping the crab line ... I never wrap the prop on my squirt-boat.
