well, i just broke my trusty spinning rod but fortunatly i also just bought a new lami casting rod (x89 mtc-t). i need a new reel to match this beauty. im mostly going to be drifting bait and casting spoons from the bank on the hanford reach and in the umpqua and lewis. i would like to have the versatility to also use this as a boat set up. ive been looking at the shimano Cardiff 300 or the Curado 200. casting and drag performance are premiums. i like them both but am a little concerned with the line capacity of the 200. any informed input would be great.

The Curado is a marvelous reel, but it sure can run out of line in a hurry when the steelie takes off.

the curado is a fantastic reel , you can get more line on it if you use power pro

The smoothest casting and drag I've ever used is the Shimano Calcutta. Very expensive though.

The Shimano Curado BSF is the smoothest reel I've ever fished!! 100% recommended!!!

I thought there were two types of the curado. Doesn't one model have a larger line capacity than the other?

Ry, the regular Curados do come in two sizes - CU100 (165yd/8#) and CU200 (200yd/8#). There is also the new Super Free Curados.
