Just wanted to know if anybody fished the salmon derby that Coyote Rock Resort held Saturday.I went crabbing instead at Yaquina Bay,thought it might be to crowded to have fun.The weather was great at the coast this weekend. Just want to know if I should plan on going next year if it was fun.

I didn't make it either. In fact I didn't even know it was taking place. Would be interested in knowing how it went. There should have been some good fish caught.

I was there. There were about 200 boats. To many people. I fished Chinook bend area and only seen one fish caught. I heard that there was a good bite ay windy bend for people fishing eggs. .The fishing was very slow. I'm going in the morning to fish with my brother.Good look on your fishing

We got a dozen keepers out of 5 traps. Was out on the water between 8-1 on Sunday and crabbed off the north jetty.Had a lot of females but the males were nice size.I was in a older 15ft smokercraft with a new Yamaha on the back.
We didn't fish in the derby but did manage one nice 25lber. The weather was great and the river was packed with boats.

Ive never seen so many bobbers in my life and non of them going down including mine. Fishing was great, weather was great, catching was terrible. River temps are beginning to drop and on the incoming the water temp dropped to 57.5 instead of the 62 or so it has been. I think there were just to many boat running around and the fish that are in the river went off of the bite because of it. We need some cooler temps and some rain would be good. also next week we get into some bigger tides which will also help.

200 boats at least! What a zoo, I would bet more like 300 boats. Saw maybe 10 fish caught by the guys not bobber fishing(280 boats) and maybe 40+ by the 10-15 bobber boats. Its got to be the eggs  We would catch one fish and have 10 boats pull in to fish around you or in your spot. We did get one 46#'s on Sat. but weighed it in at Chinook bend as there ramp and Parking are much better. If you are fishing the Siletz now bobber fishing is whats working. Got eggs?
