I was told you can't use a metal container for your brine now does that include stainless steel and if so why?
can anyone shed some light on this subject?

Has something to do with the reaction between metal and salt,I don't remember exactly what but it screws up your fish or ??
I just don't think its worth a chance,I use my wife's tupperware    Why chance it ??

I use stainless steel bowls all the time for brining fish. Never had a problem.

I use Zip locks no mess afterwards to clean up just put them in an ice chest with block of ice then you have lots more room in your fridge. I think that the concern about steel is because of the chem reaction to the alloys in even stainless can taint the quality of the finished product. there might also be some health concerns.

Stainless is used a great deal in the manufacture of pharmacuticals. I doubt you'll have any problems tainting your bait, especially if you keep the container clean from trip to trip. I don't think I'd try other metals though.
