Greetings All,
I have been stalking and enjoying the commentary on fishing. This is a great active web board. By way of introduction.
My name is Mike, mainly I winter steelhead and summer fly fish. No boat yet but have put in numerous hours on the Sandy. I began fishing out here about 2 years ago with little success until...
One nice afternoon in April at Oxbow I was fishing for steelhead with jigs. Frustrated after another day of no fish, I decided to make one stop on the way out of the park. I scrambled down to this high rock and made a few casts. About the 4th cast I got my first strike. Overjoyed that I finally hooked my first steelie and got down to a spot where I could play and land my prize. I though it odd that this steelhead didn't jump, in fact it seemed to dive down to the bottom of the river and sit there on the bottom. 15 minutes past and still no sight of this "steelhead". This fish also seemed to be stronger then my dog (a 125lb Newfoundland), another 10 minutes past, and finally I caught a glimpse of my first "steelhead".
Finalyl another 5 minutes later, with the help of a fellow bank angler, I landed my prize.

that is how I became hooked.
Mike
