My name is EZ Limits. I am a baby blue 1967 14'9" Seaswirl runabout. My new owner just purchased me about 4 weeks ago. He really appreciates me and in fact has already begun spending all his disposable income taking me out fishing and making me "his boat."

A week ago Friday, on my first trip out with my new skipper, the skipper's wife hooked and landed her first salmon. We were fishing on the Alsea trolling a spinner and a kwikfish. The skipper's wife played the king real well and they had no problem netting him. The skipper was very exited, but his wife was sad when he bopped it on the head.

My next two trips, last Sunday and this past Friday, were not as exciting. The skipper took a neighbor out to the Siletz and Yaquina Bay. Narry a nibble.

Yesterday the skip took another neighbor out to Yaquina Bay. This time things were happening! The skipper and his mate had four hits, two on, and one in the boat (a nice 25-pounder). The one that got away broke a stainless steel snap clip. All the action came on the rod with a fish flash and green and gold spinner. The 25-pounder impressed the skipper's 12-year old son enough that he suggested he might be willing to go out with the skipper on his next excursion (he usually prefers to hang with his friends instead of risking being bored all day with his dad not catching any fish).

The skipper thinks this is quite an honor since normally the boy's will only go fishin' with dad when he goes with his guide friend, Steve. The skipper told me it usually goes something like this:

"Boys, how would you like to go fishing with your dad today?"

"Are you going with Steve?"

"No, not today, but I think we have a decent chance to catch some fish."

"Sorry dad, but we have to much homework. Some other time."

Which brings me to how I got my name. The skipper will often ask his friend Steve how the fishing has been and ask for suggestions on where he should go and what to use. Steve's usual response goes something like: "Was out on the ocean this weekend. Took 'er out to the first can, dropped the herring in, bang! fish-on. Got that on into the boat, bang! another one. Had to fight through the silvers to get to the kings. Easy limits both days!"

The skipper's wife thinks I am cute so she calls me Ellie.

That's my story. So long for now.

How very unusual to have an intro and fish story authored by a boat. Hmmm... a talented boat at that.

Welcome, EZ... and tell your skipper that he's pretty lucky to have such an entertaining ride!
