Fished Carver last night from about 6:30 til dark. I have never seen so many fish rolling/jumping in my life. I looked like feeding time at a hatchery. Seriously, it was not uncommon to see 4-5 fish breaking water at the same time. And you guessed it, they were not biting. I did see 1 landed, but unknown if snagged or not. Out of about 6 people, we all seemed to be using something different to no avail. Fish looked fairly dark too....

We wanted to fish from Carver down to Riverside but someone decide not to open up the gate at 6:00am. I understood that it opened around 7:00 am???

We then decided that we would just make an entire day of the river and start off at Barton. By the time we got down to Carver we were so disapointed by seeing tones of fish but nothing bitting that we decided to head home. Called the wife to come give us a ride back to the truck.

I did hook into one but it got off when the oar slammed into the fish and popped my lure out. What the heck it's fun anyway.

Fished one of the upper holes above the old railroad bridge right befor dark last night. Didn't see any salmon rolling. The trout were taking some mayflys, so I took out my fly rod. I ended up landing a nice little steelhead on a size 18 golden ribbed hares ear. I couldn't put a lot of pressure on him fishing 3lb tippet, but I landed him in about 10 minutes. It was a clipped steelhead about 18inches. Nice fish to get on a 4 weight fly rod. But no salmon.
