Well, The skunk is still dead center of my boat  but I did see a ton of fish hooked behind the South Jetty this morning and afternoon  . I tell ya when there are fish on all around my boat and my herring are unmolested I start to get frustrated  . It was a little bouncy out there but it was do-able. I hope that some of your other guys got into the battle. On the up side.....you can never get enough bumper boats graemlins/eek13.gif .

No luck for us today. But I stayed away from that S. Jetty zoo.

hind sight being all of 20/20 I think that I would have done just fine at the Ghost Hole as far as catching the same amount of fish.....I know that I would not have had to bounce around as much to get skunked lol.

thanks for the info mark. I did notice that folks appeared to be using longer leaders. I was wondering if you are brinning the bait or just simply making sure it is fresh, which is what I have been doing. i found the info Jen posted the other day on protecting the bead chain quiet helpful as well. One of these days the skunk will leave my boat and I want to be prepared for the actual catching of fish as opposed to just the process of fishing itself....lol

I know about 99% of people out there use "cut plug" herring...but you may wanna try the minimum legal size WHOLE herring out there. Remember...with the super clear water you also wanna use LONG leaders...Like about 8 feet or so.
In addition...don't be afraid of using hooks that are BIG...like 5's and 6's. I've seen lots of fish come undone when people use smaller hooks. And once again..don't forget to sharpen those hooks!!
