Have a freind that is going to take me fishing out here in St.Helens tommarow on the river, I'm normaly a bank fisherman, just want to know where the best places to go and what to use, putting in at St.Helens. Heard the tip of sand island is good, but is there any other places, and what to use. all the help of info would be great and put to use.
Thanks

I fished Saturday, all day, for one fish. Darn nice fish though! 19 # chrome Nook. We fished several methods during the day. While slack and pulling spinners I saw a few Silvers get picked up, I got my Chinook 1 hr into the outgoing tide, in 48 feet of water, chartruse and silver Manastee (w/ shrimp paste), 5 foot leader and 4 foot dropper with 4 or 5 oz of lead. BAAA booom Fish on starboard! Man it's a good feeling when fishin's kinda slow and wham, Its your rod that just bent over..
Got it to the net and during the release he was just barely hooked.. I was wondering about changing to treble hooks on Alvins/Wobblers, any further ideas?
Wind picked up around 4:30pm and that was when we saw a few others fish being caught around us ??? Tide was moving pretty good til 6:30 7:oopm Wind was too much So, time to go...

You won't be fishing around sand island, because of the dregging that is setup all over it, unless they are done. It did move pretty fast last week from the north end on Monday to the south end on Wednesday.

Try from Buoy 77 on down in 50' of water, look for the boats. Anchor fish with Alvins on a 5X5 rig!
