I just wonder where my 30.00 is going..........

Off the Oregon DMV Page........

Customized Salmon Passenger Plates (2-year registration)
Itemized Fee Cost
Custom fee $ 50
Registration fee $30
Salmon fee* $30
Plate fee $3

$113

*The $30 Salmon fee goes to the Governor's Watershed Enhancement Board and State Parks.

I figure that I spend 125.00 in ODFW licencing and have 2 salmon plates @ 30.00/ea. Where does the money go......  I dont hear about the Washington Dept of Fish and Wildlife having to shut down hatcheries to help balance the budget..........
Why take away 800,000 dollars annually from a community that generates expotentially more in revenue. It doesnt seem like a good business decision to me. I guess thats why most of the fisherman I know as well as myself have washington licences. More and more people are going to take thier money out of state, thus hurting Oregon businesses. What do you think??

Having lived and hunted & fished in both states, IMHO Oregon, with half the population and twice as much public land, has better and less crowded conditions for hunters & anglers than you find in Wash. The WDFW is funded much differently than ODFW so comparisons are tough to make - Wash. has trouble funding its hatcheries, too. GWEB (now OWEB) spends the $30 on watershed improvements.
