CATCH AND EAT

Going to start my T-bay migration this coming weekend. Hoping for some reports about how the fishing is (catching too). How much hay is in the bay right now? And if you are not fishing in the bay then how are you folks doing in the ocean?

I saw Smily"s fish which had to be "cracker luck"   (congrats BTW) but have not heard much else.

Anyone want to give out a little information without giving specific locations

Also interested to know if you are bobber fishin yet near the oyster house.

Don't want to post it? Please e-mail me. Thanks for your help.

Don't have specific reports, but from the sounds of if, there are fish from the jaws through to Memaloose. Another thing to note, I heard from a reliable source that a guide on the bay recently landed a 58 lber in his boat! Numerous 40lbers have also been landed. Good luck.

Word I got from the horses mouth so to speak is Wayne Priddy got a 57# fish on Friday. He really doesn't like to fish herring so you'll have to guess where he was.

Saturday, off Twin Rocks, in 180 ft of water at 40 pulls with trolling sinker and whole herring, RSK. 2 fish on and farmed. The effort was less than an hour.

Many birds working and lots of baitfish.

After camping at the park for Ifishstock, the wife and I went to Garibaldi for a late breakfast. Saw numerous 30 to 40+ hawgs being weighed at the marina. The action seemed to be at the jaws - at least that's where we saw the most boats. We drove to Oyster House just to look around and saw maybe a half-dozen boats strung out along the way. No nets flashing though, and it looked pretty quiet.

Is there going to be enough rain to make TBay really happen???? It's where I'll be next weekend for sure.

Lots of fish being taken from the Oyster house right on out to the big blue. I have seen many large fish this year 40's and 50's. there has been a pretty hot bite in the Triangle and Jetties the last couple of days but I am hoping that this sprinkle of rain that we get will fill the rest of the system up as well.
Good luck

Hi Catch and eat,
Thanks on the Congrats. About the Cracker Jack thing. Uuhhhhh Yep, Opened a brand new box and you seen my prize. Pretty cool huh?

Anyway we searched high and low about all day. The action happened just at the end. We seen fish caught in the jaws and on the north tip of the jetty. Seems the fish have been staging left and right and you need to cover all waters. We went out deep too but nobody or fish we seen were out there. Good luck to you.

My buddy Ben and I fished Tillamook bay both Sat and Sun. with success. Ben got a 34.5# Chinook out of the Ghost Hole Sat. It was his new personal best. Sunday we fished just outside the jaws and found good action. Ben landed a 14# and 22#. I released a 12# coho, and lost a real big king when it got into some other peoples tackle. Also missed hooking up on a few bites. Dam bait strippers! Saw one boat weigh in 2 fish over fourty!
Went to the ifishstock thing Sat night and met more people from the board. Good to meet you all. Had a good time. Thanks to the sponsors, pigmittee, and everyones hard work to put this on.

Our boat was lucky enough to to get a couple fish including this 43lber  We caught it outside the jaws off the north jetty.

There's a story behind this one. I'll try to make it short ............After a few minutes we realize we have a pretty good fish on. We start following it as it's pretty much having it's way as to where it wants to go. After about 15 minutes of fight, it's pretty much in one spot. As we fianally are about to get a glimpse of it, we notice that someone else's flasher and stuff is tangled in our mainline, about 15 feet above the fish  . We can see the fish 7 or 8 feet below, but we can't reel past the flasher that had spun around our mainline. Now we panick (and wonder what's going on!)! Only one thing we could do....Hand line it to the net  We must have had luck on our side as the fish pulled right in! Couldn't believe we landed it! As we look at the fish and the other tackle wrapped on the line, we see some half inch rope tangled in there too. It's still hanging over the side of the boat. We pull in about 30 feet of line and looky what we have here........A crap pot! Unbelievable! As we sort this mess out, this fish had another lure in one side of his mouth, both hooks from our leader down deep (I'd say only that hook-set saved us), and had swam into the crab trap rope, which had been snagged up in by some other fisherman. When the fish had stopped running and was in the one spot is when we figured he ran into the rope, line, flasher and crap trap and couldn't move anymore, except, of course, to do a bunch of laps around and around the rope and tackle. That's our best guess anyhow from what we could tell.
What a mess it was! But, we got the fishy!!

BTW, that's me on the left and my aunt (who caught it) and uncle from Eagle Point, Oregon. They come up one weekend a year to fish T-Bay, what a reward, huh?

Nice to meet you out there Fish Hunter!

I was fishing with my guide friend Harry Bresnahan on Saturday, and I can confirm a 53 1/2 pounder caught in his boat. As of Saturday, it was the largest fish caught in the (Old Mill, I think it was called) fish tournament. Not long afterward, guide Greg Frogner weighed in a 49 pounder. Harry thinks a 60 pounder will eventually be caught this year.
