I launched from the North or downstream side of the ramp, Sat morning and backed my trailer into a deep hole (actually just the starboard side went into a hole.) The boat came off the trailer fine, but when I went to pull forward I was stuck , as in 4 wheel low and I didn't go anywhere. I backed in a little deeper and powered-up a little more and stopped suddenly with the clank of metal on concrete. I messed around for about five minutes back and forth and finally got out of the hole. I ended up denting the forward part of the wheel fender and a step bumper ding. I inspected the leaf springs, axel, and wheel and didn't see any structural damage. It still hurts, it was my first trailer misadventure. Thought I would spill my guts here so none of you have to repeat my mistake. I had launched from that same position last Saturday without problem, but of course the river continues to drop and I was closer to low tide this week. There was a guy who had launched a smaller sled before me there, and he stayed and gave me ideas about what to do, thanks, I didn't get your name.

Sorry you had problems there. They should post a warning. Better yet, they should fix the problem.

The downriver side of that ramp has always been a bummer. I always use the center or upriver side. It was even worse last year with the low water levels.
At high tide, you can get away with lauching on that side, but never try to take out on a low tide. I have seen quite a few people have trouble there in the past.

Sorry Red that lower side of the ramp ends where the x's are on the dock, I've tried to get the maintenance workers to get someone to drop some concrete blocks or large rocks in there, with no responce. The up river side has build up of river rock in there so its a little better.....   ( maybe we'll get rain and raise river level..)

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. I launched from the other side and took out in the middle. I guess I just got lucky, because I did not know about the hole either. Maybe the rain today will help.

I seen something like that happend this weekend. I was out in a boat on the North Fork in the meat hole, well this boat pulled up and the guy did not even walk on down to take a look at the ramp. He went right on down the upper river part of the boat ramp and REALLY messed up his boat trailer. It almost happend like 20 min before that but I was on the bank fishing at the time and yelled at the guy and told him that that side of the ramp is really messed up.
to all of the people that put in at new ramps, get out and take a look at the bottem of it.

I seen one in Portland not long ago. The main ramp on the CR by 33rd. This ramp is wide enough to put in 3 or 4 boats at a time, and one of the nicest ramps around. It wasn't very busy, mid week, etc.

The guy came up the side of the ramp and ripped his wheel right off the trailer. It didn't look like he had hurt the boat any, but his trailer was shot. Looks like he would have stopped when he noticed it wasn't coming along smoothly. The friendly police were writting him up for something and I don't even want to think about the bill to get the boat lifted. graemlins/stupid.gif

I think that was me that talked to you and warned the other bass boats that were putting in at the time. You drive the ford PU 4 X4? I did not know your were a Ifish member. I had talked to lipripper just before your problem. Glad you were able to pull out on the angle.
Mine was not the smaller sled. I had the ranger at the tie up dock. Sorry the little guy that was with you did not get a fish. Am assuming that that was you.....

bassin,

You are mistaking me for someone else. Wrong truck and wrong fishing partner. It sounds as if someone else had problems with the ramp as well?
