Does anyone know what people fish for in a slough right off the river in washougal? as I went over highway 14, I could see a couple of boats that appeared to have everyone jigging.
thanks

Jigging, lol. That is an area for snagging.
Excellent jigging for salmon just to right of bridge if you are west bound.

The hole just north of the bridge is very deep, and holds salmon. Jigging for them is new to me, we always used to throw spinners, and lolifes would try to snag in there, though it's pretty visible and the gamies used to get them pretty quick.
Further downstream is a slot where silvers pass through on the way into the Washougal. Real snaggy, as there is some old cable lying in there. I used to fish down in there when I was a kid for carp and chub, it's real good for those! Once I had a six foot sturgeon broach right off the bank in front of me, not 5 feet from shore.
I would stay away from the Washougal unless you like seeing greed and a lower form of human beings! It's almost depressing and I have'nt been there for over 20 years during the fall salmon runs.
I heard a few years ago that it got so ugly that the police wouldn't even go down there to one of the worst spots.
Same thing happens up at the Kalama from what I understand.

I was down there a few years ago and the banks were lined with people snagging. It was horrible. Casting corkies and a BIG hook, ripping it through them under the guise of "setting the hook". Stay away unless your law enforcement, its depressing.
