On the water at the Hwy. 101 ramp at 7:15 am. Ran out to the jaws. Pulled purple label plug cut herring. 3 rods: diver with fishflah and 6' leader and plug cut herring, diver only and 5' leader, and conventional 5' dropper&lead and 5' leader with plug cut herring. Quiet at the jaws unitl last 2 hours of ebb tide. Hook and release nice fish at 25' depth ( fish on for 2 mintues, sticky sharp Owner hooks), top hook on high side of bevel, lower hook trailing free, hook and net 33.5 lb fish, and rod bounce and bait strip 3rd fish, all on same rod: diver and fish flash with 6' leader, 25 pulls in 25' water, ALL ON THE LEFT (South) TURN just outside the jetty. Water temp 48 deg. F., tide 90 minutes before low slack, seas very manageable, water clarity good at 8-10', big slow roll on the herring, 40 lb test leader, 25 lb main line, rod in rod holder, fish firmly hooked itself 2/3 (i.e., rod buried). Also caught and released a jack chinook on second rod. Depth and speed seemed to be the key on the one hot rod. 25 pulls in 25' water and dead slow or stopped as bait fluttered down.

Fished the first mile above the 101 bridge 1 hour into flood tide. No success on plug cut herring or Cayote and Apex spoons trolled fast and slow. Saw lot's of fish (silvers) on Lowrance and jumping.
Fished 8' to 22'. Nothing happening.
Off the water at 4:15, to go to Ifish BBQ.

Ray --- Could you please be more specific?!? Saw your fish at Ifishtock --- they just don't make them any purtier........

NoLimit,
Great report but you failed to mention what type of rod and reel you were using. Sounds like you had a great weekend! <'///>< Ken

OK, OK. It was an Ambassador 550.....
My main point was the fish all hit when I was turning the boat around at the end of the jetty, and the rod that got bit was dead astern, and I have to believe that bait just flutted and fell on the turn, and that is when I had all 3 strikes. It makes me want to just drift and vertical jig herring. I have not seen that done out there, yet.

That should be, "fluttered".

Ive never done it before but instead of jigging maybe a herring on a bobber? or maybe both. Just an idea.
