My plans have changed and I get tomorrow off, I now plan to go to Yaquina Bay to do some crabbing with my youngest daughter. My questions is that after dropping off my crab rings should I fish for perch and flounder or is there any chance to catch a salmon trolling along the jetties or farther up the bay.It has been years since I caught a salmon.I fish Central Oregon for trout and have a few tips that I would swap for any tips for a chance at a salmon tomorrow. graemlins/1zhelp.gif

i don't make it to central oregon much but i do watch the board here a lot. it's a little early to be hitting the bays and expecting a lot of success. if you want to get the little one into fish, i'd focus on perch and flounder. of course, it wouldn't hurt to chase the salmon and maybe get an early one, or two (or four, she's got her tag, right?). can't help you with tips for the bay. hopefully someone else can though. good luck!!

Thanks a lot for your response ampersat.I did take my six year old daughter crabbing this morning and the weather could not be better for her.The ocean was the calmest I have seen for years. We crabbed out off the north jetty at Newport and got six keepers.I got my largest to date at 8 inches across, not bad for a few hours on the water.Probably the best 5 hours on the water I have had this year.

Thanks Jimmy
