The Rogue,

What the boat situation there? Lots of them or just a few?

Even though Im not very fond of fishing the Salmon, Ive got to get out and me some nookie.

WR..... We got there at 5:20...there were at least 8 boats that went by, and that was on a minus tide. I didn't here anything about the Barn and Bray holes, but I bet there were a lot more boats up there than the 8 I saw. Weren't too many people back in the timber (Forestry hole), so maybe the fish haven't really got up there in numbers yet.

Was there, we were the other guys with the spinner fish. Me and my partner limited out. I can attest to that fish I witnesed the whole thing.

Ok, it's not mine   ....but I netted both these fish for the guy next to me on the bank, the digital de-liar said 49 for the big one:

I've notice I done an awful lot of netting lately....and not much catching myself :depressed: :depressed:

There before daylight, left at 10:15. 7 fish landed by around 30 people. 2 on corkies, the rest on spinners. My partner crackered one right off the bat. Normally start the first 1/2 hour of fishing time by flipping about 5 feet from the bank. He had the tap-tap going on, then a yank-yank. By the time he hit the rod, the fish had some much slack line he just barely got a set at the top of the jerk. Fish rolled 2x right on top, about 5 feet from me, and went "ptoooyeee" with the hook. Arrrgh!!

There's plenty of fish there, and pressure is still fairly light for this river....meaning nobody is casting over your shoulder  .

William....you guys thumped 'em!! you must've got a few more on the incoming??

Finally getting a few more people up in that corner throwing spinners all at once, it makes it worthwhile to do, then. I was hoping to make it back this morning, couldn't do it.

For those who asked about colors....green is good!!!!

fished from 0530 to 1200
saw one caught down low (bridge), one up above,
nothing for me

seems like everyone is fishing small corkies and hooks. I felt a little out of place with my 40# leader and 5/0 hook. Think I am going to go smaller 2/0 or 3/0

with this low water, would any of you go 25# leaders?
green was the color of choice

Smaller hook and lighter line allows the use of fewer, smaller corkies. I don't like using more than 2 corkies if at all possible.

And, I wont' tie them up "pigtail" or "piggyback".....putting them on the tag end of the egg loop knot. I see way too many fish foul hook themselves that way.

I mentioned this to one of my customers today, and he had already heard about the big fish through the grapevine. But by the time he heard about it the fish had grown to 7 feet long and 300 pounds! It's amazing how the fish get bigger in the telling! Even when the fish is already big!

So, it sounds like the real secret is make sure Rogue is fishing next to you - and that he brings his net. Hey, Rogue, you could just rent out the space on either side of you and probably make some pretty good money.

Your turn is coming.

Hey, Skein, thanks for the words of encouragement

When you hit the bank with one of those oversize Beckman bag nets, people just tend to look at you for netting assistance!! Oh well, I'm pretty darned good at it, and I just love to see anyone catch a fishee!!
