This just in:
Doug Herring of milwaukie, or (that's me with the two huge hogs)
do you post local salmon pictures?
THERE WAS REFERENCE TO THE RUMOR THAT A 50 POUNDER WAS CAUGHT AT ASTORIA LAST WEEK.
ALL TRUE, EXCEPT I CAUGHT 2 OF THEM THE SAME DAY!
I HOOKED 7 BIG ONES(CHINOOK), LANDED 5, AND KEPT 2 OVER 50 POUNDS ALL BETWEEN THE CHURCH HOLE AND THE BRIDGE ON THE WASHINGTON SIDE OF THE COLUMBIA. ALL WERE SUCKERS FOR PLUG CUT HERRING FOLLOWING A DODGER AND DIVER. HERE'S THE PICTURES OF THE 2 I KEPT. ONE IS ABSOLUTELY SUPERCHROME BRIGHT. THE OTHER WAS AWESOME TABLE FAIR AS WELL. ALL WERE CAUGHT BETWEEN 7AM AND 11AM, THURSDAY AUGUST 15, 2002.
if you post these, can you let me know where?
Alright, guy, you're done. No more fishing for you. You've got your limit. The morning of a lifetime just happened and it's over ... out of the water with you!
Unbelievable! That is amazing! You know, people spend thousands to spend a week in Alaska to catch fish like that. Congrats!

Doug old man you might as well hang up the rod and reel. You are finished. God only allows you to catch two of these in your whole life. Too bad........

Has anyone else noticed this? When you look closely at the pictures, something seems amiss. I used some expensive imaging software and blew them up and what I saw, I could swear, is the fish were added into the frames!
In fact, when I blew up the black dot in the horizon of the first pic, it looks clearly like an elk head!
And the second photo has a whitish dot in the horizon. When I blew it up, it looks like some kind of small killer whale with a herring, fish flash and diver hanging from the corner of it's mouth!
Now, I am not saying he is lying or anything, just saying it looks like the fish was added.

PS - Nice fish!

Hogmaster, I see what you mean! Hey, where's the shadow of the fish in the bottom picture? Take a closer look!

"KEPT 2 OVER 50 POUNDS ALL BETWEEN THE BRIDGE AND THE CHURCH HOLE ON THE WASHINGTON SIDE OF THE COLUMBIA"
Nice Fish.
I'm assuming he took the photo's shortly after they were landed. The church hole is below the bridge. The first photo is definitely above the bridge and I'm pretty sure the second one is also.

Richter - From experience, above the bridge is where you end up when fighting big fish on a strong incoming tide (get it?).

The thing I'm wondering about is how can you claim to catch TWO Chinook salmon and keep them both in the same day when the limit is ONE ???
I just wonder with the photo's and the admission statement above, if any game officers are reading Ifish

We were fishing there that day as well. We saw a 57# URB come across the Fish Cleaning Table @ the Warrenton KOA that same day. Must have been some big fish moving through that day. We got 3 in the boat that day, all nice fish but nothing over 30#, and lost 3 more.
Way To Go!!

ok, i'm here to defend myself. both fish started out close to the bridge on the churchhole side, but if you've caught many bruisers you know that you don't end up any where close to the same spot. and in my defense, the limit was 2 then. "nasty tule", think again. the fishing was great, great boat, great skipper- my friend todd thorne of milwaukie. "digital enhancement"... that's a good one. my partner caught another that was really close to these. the biggest salmon i've ever caught, or probably will ever catch again. why go to alaska, when we have a fishery this fantastic.
