hatchery closures, this is a subject that should have everybody standing up in the stirrups.
this time it is for real, one of the commissioners stopped in for a long visit yesterday, and this subject was brought up.
The only solution to our problem is get financing for the hatcheries out of the general fund and be self supporting, through a license fee increase. this increase would have to be at least $10, to solve this biannual problem we have with financing the hatcheries.
I would accept the $10 fee increase for a fishing license. and I would also accept a $10 license for crabbing and clamming,[ we could have paid off the national debt this spring at seaside with a 10 dollar clamming license]
This is the only way to get the hatcheries out of this stranglehold we run into each two years, we must get the financing out of the general fund and into a self supporting enterprise.
