Hello, I have a last minute question for anyone out there. I'm leaving tomorrow morning to spend a day or two in Seaside(visiting the in-laws). Where and what is near by to fish for, and what to use to catch it? I'd like something close that's not too difficult to find or fish since I don't really have to time to become an expert. Maybe some Jetty fishing or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll check ifish before I leave tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance.

I've never personally tried this but I heard Jennie talking about it one time and it might be worth a try.
The Necanicum has a good population of flounder in the lower tidal sections. Near the High School area you can fish with light (trout) gear and catch these guys. You use bait weighted to the bottom of the river. Clam necks, sand shrimp, crawlers, etc... all work from what I've heard.
I wish I could provide more info on rigging for these but I've never done it. I'm sure it's similiar to sturgeon rigging only much lighter. Maybe someone can give more specifics on it?
Salmon should be in the Necanicum by now. Maybe try tossing spinners in the area around downtown on the incoming tide?

Thanks for the info. I'll give both a try as time permits.

Arima, you might try Cullaby Lake or Sunset lake between Seaside & Astoria. Both have good warmwater fish with some trout thrown in. Lots of the little lakes along the road have fish in them. At Warrenton, Ft. Stevens has Coffenbury and Creep and Crawl lakes but they might be crowded this weekend. Good luck where ever you go.
