Although reports of late have been great, I think the fish decided to take the day off. I anchored up in about 47 feet of water at 10:45 or so and waited for the tide. I saw about 5 fish landed for about 70 boats in about 5 hours of fishing.

There was a small bite that turned on around 5:00 and saw BareHooker pop loose and nail a nice bright fish

I had one pop loose at the boat shortly after and then around 5:30 or so we got a nice bright hen that weighed out at 25 pounds. Over all it was SLOW but can't complain when you bring one home.

Nice meeting you BareHooker, hope to see you on the river again.

Oh yea, this goes out to the nice couple of guys in the open Alumnaweld that decided to throw anchor about 150 feet behind our boat , nice going! I will remember your boat and grant you the same favor next time. graemlins/stupid.gif

Saw some nice fish caught today ... Seemed like Lady's Day. I hope to see Gini and Laura's fishes posted here, soon.

Overall, it was slow, compared to what it has been. Saw a few boots landed, one or two samsonites and even a couple jacks. But how can anyone complain about a nearly windless, 75 degree, sunny August day?

I agree with you TB, things were slower than I've seen at any time in the last week. I think overall the ifishers did well though, I saw action with Brshooter's boat, Small Fry's wife (next to us), ZZZZZZ'z (had one at the dock) and Rainrshine(in my boat). They all got fish today (unlike me), and combined with your's that is more than half of the fish I saw taken in total!

Tomorrow..........

SureSet,
I agree about us Ifisher's kicking some butt out on the river. I tried a roll call a couple of times on VHF ch.68 but got no reply. Were you the one that dropped the guy off at the bank at Frenchman's? I was a ways up but could have sworn it was you. I'll be in the area tomorrow, see ya there

tacklebuster, I was anchored next to barehooker, and I waved you back cause I had a fish that was hell bent for Astoria. I appreciate you giving me room  . We ended up landing that fish, but didn't see any others after that. I'm sure I'll see you out on the river again.

Fished next to brshooter, Nice to meet you and your crew, had one line line releash and one take down for 10 hours of fishing. But it was a nice day on the river. And beats going to work.

What should be LONG LINE release. Could not spell my name if it wasn't on my drivers License.

Chalk up yet another fish for an Ifish guy. I got the second fish of the day, around noon, and first for the line. I was aboard the blue NW jet boat ( I cleaned the fish before we left), and the boat next to us also got one. Same line as everyone else.

Basically yesterday there was no real bite. Small one and two fish flurries. Red and Bare Hooker's fish were almost back to back. Overall I felt lucky, I think maybe 10 fish for 70 boats. Slowest day I've seen yet, but very usual for this time of year. It will get better, again.

GO IFISH Gang

Chris

Red,
I'm glad you landed that fish. The fish was so close to my boat that I could have netted it for ya  I was wondering how long the little flurry of a bite would last. We put in a lot of time in the river so after we got ours, we bailed. I hope to see you on the river again...

I agree that IFish people got the fish @ Frenchman's yesterday.

My handle here is Z's, but my boat is The Bare Hooker. It was nice to meet Tacklebuster and my neighbors yesterday, Red and WillieJ. FWF1, I was happy when you hooked up and I thought that we would see a bite develop. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you yet, but I'm sure it won't be long. I had a short strike right after you landed your fish and another tap, tap, tapper 2 hours later. My fish at 5:00PM was fun and I was looking for some style points on my 'Bassmaster' move around the bow.

It was a slow day, but great weather and I am always happy with 1 in the box. I had my best bite of the day and my only total take down when I had my tag between my legs recording fish one. As a result fish two is probably in the vicinity of Troutdale by now.

I credit the 5:00PM bit to Red's boat. As soon as he broke out the Subway Sub's the fish bit too.

The capt. scored you an 8.0

The first mate scored an 8.2

And I was the guest, so I'll give ya the 9.0

Nice fish !

I kept telling those guys a bite would happen, so when my rod went off at noon ,I grabbed it. I felt bad we didn't get another fish. The bite was definately slower than it had been.

We kind of had some minor struggles getting home, so the fish was sent as a gift for the captain's wife graemlins/hearton.gif

FWF1 -

Nice touch of gifting your catch. Maybe they'll have you over for dinner.

I hope the touble was nothing major. It looked like you were on board a nice craft.

Well after the pack episode Rick, I thought things couldn't get worse than a non-existent bite........

After parking the trailor, the first mate tosses the keys in glove box and locks the door with the outside keypad.... I say " hey the lights are on" . My friend replies " they turn off automatically".

Problem one : keys inside are the only one's on site. Captain's orders followed, so locked in the rig they go.

Problem two: lights are ON ! not on auto night pilot. Battery drained. Battery drained = no power to outside keypad

Problem three : We're in BFE so it's not very close to anyone who can come quickly.

Ford sends courtesy call for us.

Problem four: locksmith says " we're leary if these have side impact airbags. This does."

Pucker factor 7.8, and climbing  ( for you Rick).......

Long story short ( sorry Rick, Hemmingway not my style  Maybe like EAP or someone short . )...
We get door open after many, many attempts and are able to drive home happy until........

Chris

Thanks Zzzz..

Actually I didn't really feel like cleaning it after I found out it was a buck....

Seriously, the captain really wanted a fish and I was happy to share. After they followed me on a "NO BITE" day, it was the least I could do.

Yea, that boat was a dandy, but I'm kind of partial to a certain Asaltor or a white sled with black words on it  . There's Something about Spanky  .......

What are you guys using out at Frenchman's, and how are you using it? Every time I go out I don't even get any bites. Please help.
