Hi All:

I haven't been on the water in over a month which is rare for me so I am in serious need of some time on the water. So much so that I am going to adjust priorities so that I can get a day off next week to go FISHING and hopefully do some CATCHING as well if I'm lucky I usually fish further up river where I can count on current all day to fish on anchor, but I am thinking that there might be more fish down river around the mouth of the Colitz. My question is about what current I can expect. Can I fish Alvin's and U20's on anchor all day or will I have to pull anchor and plan on trolling a good portion of the day?

Any advice from those of you that fish that area is appreciated.

I'll make a post when I figure out which day I'll be out there and I should have the Ifish stickers that I ordered from Jennie this week on the boat.

There are spots that will have enough current for lures, but not by much. The problem is keeping the boat straight after the wind starts blowing upriver. I used a transom anchor last time and it worked. My boat stayed straight thru the tide change but we didn't get any take downs during the incoming. All the hits were around slack and outgoing. However I did take a nap and was refreshed when the catching turned on again.

Z's -

At the mouth of the Cowlitz you will need to pull anchor after slack and on the incoming. The water pretty much flows slowly upstream on the incoming, but not enough to anchor backwards, so it becomes a trolling show.

While the outgoing is running, Alvins and Flatfish work and sometimes work really well.

During the incoming the trolling can be hit and miss, but sometimes it is quite productive as well.

There is a long run of outgoing there, so if you can catch it in the morning it is a pretty much all day shot on anchor if that is your preference.

Good luck!

Hey Nate, you can't afford a day off. With all of your recent consultant casualties out here, you need to be working everyday adding SOBUs (Space Occupying Billable Units  ) to your roster. In the meantime, I'd be glad to take your boat out and bloody it up for you

Hey Bill:

Nice offer to bloody up the boat up bit - I like the way you think. The SOBU count :depressed: is one reasons that I haven't been out there lately, but it is just about back to even now and I've just gotta fish. I'll let you know which day I'm headed out and I'll keep seat open for you if you can get away. I like a little bit of Chinook Blood on board so bring your best rod and we'll see if we can get it to play my favorite song - ZZZZzzzzz.

Dude Whao!

No Bananas. I would have a hard time explaining to the bank how they lost their great employee. My deck hand would probably have you overboard before I could pull him off - if I would pull him off.

Chinook Blood Good  , Bananas Bad graemlins/icon_argue.gif
