Count is a bit up but will probably drop down for a bit. Other reason is below.
Live report from Mission says he got THREE (I've changed this from one, to two and now three since the original post  ) Chinook this afternoon in the lower river. Wah, I am sitting at home. Figures. Details and pictures from Mark later, I am sure.
Anyone other than us have to deal with the "Old Man and Lab From Hell" who fishes right below the Oak Tree on Hamilton, Island?
He and his crew were two hours later than us, pounded in the rold holders right below us in the line anyway and then proceeded to throw railroad spikes almost to the other side of the river.
Called him on it and he ran, yet again, to the cops? Nothing was said or done to us, but this creep was dead wrong this time for where he set up, cast and his on purpose defiant behavior.
The inside slots and really every slot in the line were and would have been hosed when he does this. Has a yellow lab with him.
Crying to the cops and screwing everyone but himself is his MO. He pleads "us old folks can't fish anywhere anymore." A couple of years ago, he brought FIVE, count em' FIVE Skamania County SWAT cops to the bank, after telling them I threatened him with a hand gun. I don't even own any gun!
50 yards lower, where HE normally fishes is not a problem, and again if he was there first, so be it, we would have dropped way outside. (He would have been across us all the way to the Oregon side anyway though, seriously.)
Sure am tired of this bad movie that he continues to get away with.
Had two very credible witnesses in my boat who can attest to just how wrong this reprobate is. Ended up just dealing with it, to avoid the bad guy routine.
By the way, is it still two Chinook and two Steelhead or what is it on the Washington side? To top it off, he nailed fish right behind us and think he kept fishing after his limit.
Would have loved to have been able to call the local game cops myself and repay his kindness this way, if that was the case. His behavior is basically out of control.
I thought about calling them anyway and telling them he had 8 fish in his possession, just for sheets and giggles. :hoboy:

News Flash: Six or seven boats anchored below Government Island today. Saw a couple drop out of line around noon and some nets waving.
Rain is overrated. These fish are driven by time as well. One of my best tidewater years was during a drought. Chinook were stacked like cordwood with nowhere to go. They will come.

Can you say biological clock? Time is near or hear. Then this from Marty's board:
Well just got off the phone with my dad and he went back down this morning to fish today and tomorrow and he's 2 for 3 with 2 30 lbers. He said it looks like it's picking up a bit.. Some fish starting to show.
Keith
See ya tomorrow...on the river.

Hey ******:
I like to fish along Hamilton Island and caught some nice fish there early this Spring before it got too crowed and before the flow made it real hard to anchor. I am always extremely courteous to the bankies there, but I know what you mean about them thinking that they own that part of the river even when you are there first. I ususally fish much farther our than I would prefer to for that reason. I think that I have caught at least one fish every time I have been able to anchor on an inside slot at the Oak Tree.
How is the water flow in the Oak Tree hole now? How much lead did you need?
As an alternative I have fished the gravel bar two Islands down stream from Hamilton with some success and there are no bankies there.
Keep us posted on the crusty guy and good luck out there.

Yah, that crusty old dude is a problem, and I'm pretty sure he is fishing beyond his limit.
Next time we'll lay 300' of rope thru " his spot"and make him move down to the end of the island. Him and the water kite guys , we'll cut off both of 'em
Actually, after the last few days, let the old dude have that spot. When we have an army of boats, then maybe, he will get the picture. Till then......
Go down Spanky
Chris
