I would be interested to know if anyone has ever fished the West coast of Prince of Wales Island, Alaska, near Craig. I've been up there a few times and the fishing is usually unbelievable. I was up there in mid-July and the King fishing was pretty good and the halibut fishing was unreal.
I have.
We had an office in Crag and a facility at Clark Bay (AMHS). Spooner guides out of Crag and I have another friend that guides for Fireweed Lodge in Klawock.
I wish that I didn't have to leave SE Alaska. :depressed:

I fish there every year and have some good friends in Klawock, what is it you would like to know? The hunting is also awsome. Fishinnut

Keta-I too have a friend who guides out of Fireweed Lodge. My brother kept his boat in Klawock for three years until he built a dock on his property near Craig.

TyeeTom,
What an incredible fishery!!!! We fished out of Waterfall two years ago, can't wait to go back!!! Nice Kings, Halibut galore, 50lb. lings and 20+lb. Yelloweyes, kinda spoils a guy!! Waterfall was very spendy, what's Fireweed like?? Any other lodges that one would recommend??
Thanks, Kurt

There are many, many lodges on POW Island. Personally, if you don't mind fishing the ocean, I would go to the west side of the island for a lodge. If I didn't want to spend the type of money that a lodge like Waterfall asks for, I would go with one of the "bed and breakfast" places and just hire a local guide. That's if you don't mind cooking for yourself and possibly renting a car to run for things you might need. If you are planning to go up there next year, let me know via email and I can give you some advice. I've been up there about 15 times or so.

Has anyone fished the Freshwater on the Island and willing to share thier experiences?
I'm going up in two weeks for silvers on the rivers. I've also read a lot about the Winter steelhead runs on the island

Fish Forever I have fished many of the rivers on bith sides of the island where we caught over 100 salmon in a day and not seen another sole, (other than bears and eagles) I am going up in three weeks but if you give me a call I will tell you every spot and the what to fish with I know, and I'll give a shout at my buddy that lives there for you. For any one else interested in an awsome place to stay with your own 4x4 to use and some of the best food you can eat email me and I'll show you how to go for a week for under $1500 a person.Talk to you soon Fish forever. Drive to Prince Rupert, Take the AMHS Ferry (my old employer) (http://www.dot.state.ak.us/) to Ketchikan, then another ferry to Clark Bay. Drive a few miles toward Crag and stop to fish the Harris River. After fishing there continue on to Klawock. Fuel up in Klawock and then head north toward Thorne Bay. At Control Lake you can turn east and fish the Thorne River or continue north as far as Lab Bay. Any creek or river that you cross will be full of salmon now. A side trip to Coffman Cove and Exchange Cove are worth the extra gas. Last time that I was there you could get fuel in Thorne Bay and Coffman Cove.

Thanks all, will be talking to my Dad in Maui, he is the one who put the Waterfall trip together. He would like to try something different.

Walleyed,
Clam Gulch is on the Keni Peninsula and it gets crowded.
