View Full Version : Angle Banned?
Angle sent me a email, stating that Piller kicked him off of the message board. If this is true why was he banned. I did not read any posts by him that were offensive or containing any foul words. All of the posts I read were about his wild and crazy ocean adventures.
It wasn't John (Pilar)that did it and there were reasons not posted. That's all I will post about it.

Angle's removal was the unanimous decision of the moderators. The only individual responsible for this decision was *********.
Participating at ifish is a privilege, not a right. We are all guests here and, as such, we need to respect the boundaries. ********* decided not to honor those boundaries.
********* and Titan - I hold no ill feelings and wish you good luck and goodbye.

I would also like to hear the reason he was banned. I cant recall anything he did or said that would cause him to be banned. I may not agree with alot of the things he has posted but all in all I cant think of any reason that I have seen for him to be banned.
I dont even know him but it just doesnt seem right.

I too do not know the whole story, but the fact of the matter is he is gone, we can only assume that there were good reasons if all the mods agreed. As a long time member and participant, I feel that it takes alot to get banned from this board and assume that were actions or communication behind the scenes that were the cause and not the public posts. Jen actually has pretty thick skin, just look how long she has put up with me and bait-O-eggs graemlins/icon_argue.gif

Mastercaster - I suggest that you review the "Acceptable Use Policy" specifically, the portion that discusses banning offenses.
The fact that the moderators were unanimous in this decision should be convincing that the decision was not arbitrary. Nothing is to be gained by listing offenses or second guessing the decision.
I understand your curiosity and ask that you trust that our decision was valid. Thank you.

Angle This and to all board users: The job as moderator is not easy. We are faced with decisions that hopefully will keep this board at the high quality level that we all as users come here to enjoy.
Personal attacks on individuals will not be tolerated on the board or in emails.
As one of the moderators, I used my vote to remove Angle this for his attacks and vicious statements he made in his email that have not been made public. They where down right disgusting and totally uncalled for and in my opinion, deserve a written apology.
I would ask all of you to post professionally and responsibly and within the guidelines established by Jen when you signed on to use this forum.
If you act professionally, and keep your posts topic specific and not individual specific, the moderators will not have to get involved to make them professional or worst yet, close or delete topics that fall outside the guidlines. The choice is yours.
One final thought: if we all act as moderators the need to moderate will disappear and all of us will be happy.
Giz...

I do not know *********, but reading from his exploits, he was and is a danger to himself and others. Most of the experienced Ifishers just shake their heads, as so much of what was printed was Bravado, and not much real thinking. I think the real issue was likely the possible influence he possibly had on some of the newer members, and the dangerous, and silly things he advocated. I know more than one time after reading his posts, I hoped no one else would "try this at home". I wish him luck, and must confess that it was always a suprise to hear his explainations, and sometimes it was schocking. Good luck ********* (Dino) and your dog -- hope you load the boat up many times, and for a long time.

I should stay out of this! But I get really tired of people demanding explanations why someone is banned. And then the banner goes about his/her merry life maligning the person or persons who made the decisions and usually not telling on iota of truth why the ban occurred..
JOHN: The wonderful world of email...did you get invited to his party.
Shades of the past....ay Jen. I hate "ay or aye".

I would have to give a big hoo-rah to Pilar for not coming unglued after Angles last posts directed at him. I would have been dismissed as moderator had it been directed at me

John & MasterC
What is said on the board is the only thing that we readers and posters see. There is of course other ways to communicate to others.
Keta makes the point that there were other reasons. I think we should all honor the way this board works and trust the judgement of those who made a decision that they felt was
in the best interest of all concerned.
This is such a good board. It isn't this way by accident. It's a lot of work for quite a few folks.
I hope we can all appreciate what we have here. Let none of us second guess those who do the work.

I agree. This is not a Democracy, this is a service (free I might add) that each of it's members agree to use with it's explicit rules and expectations. I don't need to understand the decision, I can read.

Just accept the fact that the moderators had to make a decision and support them in that.... I personally think or mods do an excellent job... They'd do an even better job if they took each one of us on 1 fishing trip a month.... ::

Seems to me that enough has been written here, and anything else will be either redundant or questioning those who enforce the rules.
I personally suggest this thread be locked, not removed, so that anyone curious can see, but not add already stated feelings and/or questions about offenses of the use policy.
The site is free and the rules are pretty straight forward. The moderators are tolerant. The boundaries were exceeded and more than once. End of story.

Sad to see that it took the mods to get something done about actions that were nowhere near adult like. Aren't we all adults here? God help us if we NEED someone to tell us how to act or what to write. I have only seen a few Angle posts here in my limited time, and the ones I did see were a bit uncalled for. One stated that someone who died as a result of poor navigational choices was, and I quote "too stupid to live"... What if that was your family that lost someone and the mods allowed that kind of stuff here. Anyway, I am sorry to see an ifish leave, but so long...
Hi, I posted this post as to why a person got banned from the board. I post on several other sports boards and there are far more offensive, too some, posts. From all of his posts I did not see any reason for the guy to get banned. I did notice alot of people jump on his back when he would ask a simple regs question. All he was asking for was a simple reply. I do not post questions on this board because every smart *** has to give one a world of grief for a question.

As previously stated, the decision to ban ********* was a considered one and there was due cause. There is nothing to be gained by further discussion.
If you have comments concerning this decision please send them to me. My e-mail address is listed. I may not reply immediately as I intend to inflict some casualties on the chinook population before the limit is changed.
