Caught a chinook today, one of three that I`ve ever caught. It was darker in color on the outside and the meat is kinda on the white side. I think might be spawned out? is this any good for the BBQ or smoker?? I was going to throw it all on the smoker and am wondering if I am just wasteing my time?? do you think the meat is any good??

First of all you can smoke a shoe and make it taste good. Is there any chance this could be a white king like the ones in the frazer river. I catch about a dozen a year in the samish river.
I have found that a little dark colored fish tend to soak up your brine a bit better. SO I say go for it...DJ

TULE!! Other wise known as a dog fish. Not spawned out but they come in ripe. Hopefully it at least had some good eggs. I personally throw them all back, but I know people who smoke them and say they are good smoked.

If you wouldnt throw it on the BBQ, bake it, or any other traditional method of cooking a fish, why do you think smoking it will magically make it better table fare?

Put it back or in the garden, although I am guilty of an occasional hen for bait.
