Hi all- I'm a new fisher woman... introduced to Ifish and fishing about a year ago by my addict boyfriend. So here I am... determined to figure out this whole fishing phenom.
For a newbie, though, I'm not off to a bad start. For the first few trips out I began to think that the boys were full of it... I never saw them catch a thing. Still, they ranted on about how great a take down is and I'll know it when I see it.
After the boys were out springer fishing for weeks and caught -well- some decent fish, I headed out with my boyfriend to give it a go... After 4 hours of nothing, I'm settled into my chair with no intention of moving and suddenly my rod started making a little more noise than usual. I looked over and its kind of tugging down to the water. I look over at my boyfriend who is paying NO attention, whatsoever. So I figure, this must not be it. Still the rod's getting tugged by something so finally I ask, "Ummm, is that what its supposed to look like?" Apparently, yes. He jumps up and practically knocks me into the water he's so excited. So I reel in my first Spring Chinook, a nice 28 pounder... twice as big as any the boys caught.
Yay me!
