Are you kidding? Everyone knows that fish are extremely brand-and-trend conscious and will only bite the current, hottest, most popular lure. These aren't K-Mart-going fish, Hogtide. These are "when I'm not swimming in this here river I'm downtown drinking lattes while strolling through Nordstrom" fish.

Save them for when retro-angling becomes vogue.

You wont catch anything on those lures! Stick with the most current up-to-date jobies! I wouldnt even get them near your alvins, as it may jinx them. Send them all to me and I will give them a proper disposal.....honest!

And the newest addition to the wobbler line up is the "SIMON". This lure is actually made by one of my student's dad. It is smaller than an Alvin, all stainless and comes with 3 different squares of lazer tape.

The local boys claim that it outfishes the Alvin, but I don't think it is quite as pretty. The other problem is that it doesn't cost enough. I think FMS only wants about $6 a piece.

...those FST's really used to be 'HOT'.

Hogtide you are right on about the FST's. Used to watch a old guy at Coon Island put them out in the current. His rod bent very often. Used them myself too with success. You gotta show me one of those local wobblers.

I've still got a couple Corn Wobblers in my tackle box, as well as several different size FST's. The red dot and hooks are long gone from the Corn Wobblers, but I just can't seem to get rid of them. We used to use both of those lures a lot in the boiling water below the falls at OC in mid to late May and into June. Ahhh....good memories....why don't I use them any more either??

I've got one or two FST's with the welded ring holding the siwash hook on - those have almost got to be collectors items by now.

The Corn Wobbler always did so 'little' in the current, I couldn't believe that the fish would actually suck em down. Maybe that was the key to it's success! The big hogs really seemed to like them.

Rick- I think they are presently selling the Simons at Fisherman's Marine Supply. they are right next to all of the other Alvin type wobblers. They only keep a couple of rows in stock, so they are frequently gone. If they run out, let me know...I will go local-boy-direct for you.

...or Tom Mack?...or Corn Wobbler, Manistee and F.S.T ???

I was just out in the garage polishing up my cache of Clancys and Alvins, when I ran into these old friends. When I first started "deepwater" fishing for Kings off of Kalama in the 1970's, the go-to rig was a red dot Corn Wobbler' on the bottom and an F.S.T on the the top rig. The largest % of us out there used this riggin', and it caught so many fish, I can't for the life of me ever figure out why I changed over to Alvins !?

..anyhows...if your chinookin' on a budget, and you don't feel like dropping $8 - $10 on a wobbler, pick one of these guys up. They are in the $3-$4 range and they work just fine.
