We put in two full days earlier in the year and only caught one 9 incher :depressed: The other people I talked to had the same kind of success. My next plan is to go fly fishing in the river up above Swift, that has always been good.

I think that spill off theory is a good one. Try Merwin next time. Even if the trout aren't there, the kokes are and they are bigger in Merwin.

The spill could have something to do with it, but the fish that got washed out would be in Yale, not Merwin. I too was marking fish at Swift, a lot of them actually. So I dont know what is up with the fish. Maybe somhow there is a ton of food in the lake and they are not hungary

If you fish in merwin kill all the squa fish, fished yale 2 weeks ago with ver good success, limited in 2 hours with father in law. but had to use 5 ounces of lead at 60 pulls. spinners wern't even down 5 minutes between bites. most between 10- 14 inches. very good on the barbie and in the smoker.

Caught and released a 22 inch Bull Trout and got an 18inch Rainbow and two dinkers a couple of weeks ago. That was it for four hours. Used flashers down deep. The Bull fought like a steelhead; quite amazing. Watch out for the wood and the dead heads on plane; I traumatically removed my transducer bracket that trip. Doc.

I fished swift many times too and think that it might have to do with the water temp.Or natural cause

swift is 65 miles north of the I-5 bridge (the columbia river)
