One steelhead on friday, 2 steelhead and 1 salmon on sunday. k10, f5, and a mepps spinner caught the fish. My k10 has accounted for 5 steelhead so far. Where I anchor is real slotty it seems. I had to move about 5 times sunday before I could "find the slot". In the line I was in out of 7 boats 3 fish were caught, all in my boat.

Iv'e been eyeballing those red/black dotted u20's. In fact I used black paint to docter up my k10 that has been catching fish. If I can just make it to the store to buy some before they are all sold out after these posts...

30 feet or thereabouts. Actually accidently stumbled into this spot as I was just anchoring between 2 boats and I was by myself so picked the biggest gap between boats. Since then I found a boat anchored there before me and I talked to them and they said that 30 feet was right where they wanted to be. That boat caught 4 steelhead that morning. Not really a slot as the bottom slopes out to over 40 ft on the outside. Boats anchored to the inside or outside of this spot catch fish, just not as consistent. Also am walking the lures back quite a ways. The steelhead shoot to the surface when hooked and they are back there.

Made it to Joes and scored a couple of black spotted U-20s. Even with the lousy tides I'll be on the river friday. Say hello if you see me out there.

FH2,
"30 feet or thereabouts. Actually accidently stumbled into this spot as I was just anchoring between 2 boats and I was by myself so picked the biggest gap between boats. " By yourself were ya? Can't say I remember it like that, neither can Roberto, but hey, it's your fish story dude!

Change out the hooks on those flatfish! Almost learned this lesson the hardway!
The nook we caught almost straightened the hooks completely and we were not horsing it in! Use a #2 owner treble.
See ya on the water.

Wild Bill,
I have some owners that I will use. I have seen the stock hooks straighten on the kwikies as well, at least there are split rings on the flatfish belly so you don't have to cut them off like on the kwiks.

My father and I have caught several l fish out there at the mouth of the Cowlitz.
One huge steelhead and a Salmon that ripped the hook right off my Kwikfish.
Tuesday (8-13) my dad went out there with a friend and caught a couple of steelhead and a small salmon (he didn't say what type). I think they had to all be thrown back.
I really like that area and it sounds like it is a good spot.
graemlins/1zhelp.gif Chacal,
Were you hog lined up or trowling? What size kwikfish were you using? Hope to be at the mouth the first of next week. Appreciate any info you can help me with. Thanks. <'///>< Ken

We always hogline up on the outside line toward the Columbia. Right where the two rivers meet.
Usually fish a K14 (I think). I will look the next time we go out. We don't wrap them, just put a little shrimp scent on them and let them rip.
