South Carolina fishing?

I know it is a long way from home, but I'm gonna ask anyway. I'm spending next week with some family on the South Carolina coast (Hilton Head area). I am hoping I can bum a pole and try some bank fishing somewhere. Problem is, I have no idea what to fish for or where. I have heard there is good surf fishing. There are also several lagoons and inlets. Anyone know anything about fishing options in this area? I will try anything ...
