Fished the Ocean out of Charleston today.. lots of boats fish checker had checked 72 boats as of 12:30 and only one fish...

The ocean was 43 degrees.. incredible..
There must have been a huge upwelling that pushed the fish out?

4-6" swell no wind.. it was nice!

Is the NC experiencing this as well? COuld be the answer to B10's lack of fish!

???

Saturday out of Garibaldi, I was on the 250 foot line, which is about 5 miles offshore. The temp was in the mid 48's. I ran a couple miles north towards Nehalem and found some low 49's.

The fish were farther out than I was hunting for them :depressed:

43 degrees sounds cold.

Cold water good, warm water bad for salmonoid species!!! I bet it was a big upwelling, there'll be lots of baitfish working the edges if you could find them!!!

43 degrees, that is cold! I thought optimum temp for salmon was around 54 degrees.

Fished Winchester today 46 to 49 Degrees. We went back into the bar on the run out , three strikes one 22# and one 16# Chinook. Lots of bait fish, birds feeding everywhere. Some fish at cleaning stations but real slow.
