Between Marker 26 and 28 across the island from Gardiner. Launch out of Reedsport. With our secret weapon (gillnets) we caught 17 greens and 2 whites a couple weeks ago. They are hopping on the slack tides and biting on the flows. If you catch any of our tagged fish, send in the info to the address on the tag (or post it here) and I'll tell you when and where we tagged it. Just have to have the tag number. Just don't remove the tag from a fish your not keeping. And remember, this is a secret zipperlip. SHHHHH

Do'h! Scholfield Creek.

Schoenbar Creek was the creek behind my brothers house in Ketchikan.

I think that there are 8 billion sculpins in the umpqua between the 101 bridge and the ocean. We were wrapping the bait with netting and sticky thread so it would last longer than a minute or two but the sculpin would still tear it up pretty badly. The sturgeon were jumping alot and i have to say that it is pretty impressive when you hear that big splash close to the boat. We actually saw a few come out of the water. As for the catching, we hooked two and promptly lost them. The salmon fishing in the bay was lousy as well, but the crabbing was good. I am heading back next weekend to try again and any info on a better bait system would be helpfull. WE were useing a combination of pickeled squid fresh herring and smelt sprayed with shrimp scent. This weekend i am going to try some sand shrimp rolled up in mesh as well

I'll say the crabbing is great. Sunday we did get a 25# and 16# Chinook in the jaws. The only thing wrong with the crabbing at Winchester is the fact that if you leave your pots unattended they get pulled by someone else.

Any bait works as long as it is sand shrimp. And you will have to wrap them in mesh to keep the crabs and sculpin from cleaning them off. Also replace your bait often.
Where did you fish for salmon? I want to go over week after next.
