Don't ask that...ask for a link to the regs....NOT!
I was under the impression that sturgeon was closed from Bonneville down... I'm almost sure of it.
But... why would you want to go for gators during the off/slow keeper season when steelhead is read hot, and salmon is good?

invader,
I think sturgeon fishing is open between Bonneville Dam and the Dalles Dam until Aug. 5th 2002. You should check with ODFW first to be sure.
God Bless

It is not closed to sturgeon fishing... Just retention. You can fish all day for them, just not keep them. C&R sturgeon can be a good day fishing too.

Here is what I posted on another thread. If you don't like it go to the meetings. And please remember that not only did the commercials get theirs, so did the sports. Okay SureSet, here is what I've found out. They have just started the technical end of the process. The have finished marking the sturgeon for the population estimate. After they get that done they will use OSY (Optimum Sustainable Yield) management to determine the harvestable number of fish. It looks like it will be a multi-year (3) agreement again and it will probably stay at the 80/20 split. The public information meetings will be October 15th, 6PM - 9PM in Vancouver at the Water Resources Education Center and October 21 from 6PM -9PM at the Astoria Seafood Center. The Washington Commision will meet December 6-7 and the Oregon Commosion will meet December 13th to discuss decisions and the plan will be adopted in December or January by the Columbia River Compact. Check the ODFW news releases for any changes in the meeting schedules. <font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">

Which place that you fish is closed 36 weeks a year?
The lower river will only closed 9 weeks this year. Bonneville Reservoir will be closed 19 weeks this year. The Dalles Reservoir will be closed 22 weeks this year. John Day Reservoir and the Willamette River will not be closed at all this year. That's just the Columbia system. All the coastal rivers will be open all year. If you want a sturgeon, go get one. :hoboy:
