Yesterday, while trolling for salmon off of twin rocks, I happened to real up something incredible..unbelievable..against all odds. Can you guess??
Coming up from 60 feet, I felt a little drag on my line and thought maybe I had picked up a small jellyfish or pice of sea weed. It was neither...it was....a BANANNA PEEL! My first thought was there is a diver down there screwing with me; sounds like something I would do. But there were no dive boats or flags in the area. If that can happen, next time out, I'm looking for a marlin.

How was the fishing after you reeled up a "dreaded" banana peel? :hoboy:

I think I can beat that. Two years in a row (both on my first trip out) springer fishing on the Willamete, I had the pleasure of reeling in used condoms  graemlins/berry.gif . Talk about gross! I swear I have the worse luck. Now I always feel apprehensive on my first springer trip of the year :depressed: Ahhh the good ol' Willamete ...ain't she grand!
P.S. Keep a pair of rubber gloves on the boat.

I didn't know that they made condoms for salmon? Are they afraid of getting fin rot or something?

Tundra - How the heck do you know they were used.Enquiring minds..... On second thought - never mind. And about those "rubber gloves". Did you piece those together one finger at a time from what you caught ?? Oh - this is too funny!!
Oh ya... and fishingfirst- I almost fell out of my chair. Trojan Plant - oh that was good.

THAT"S IT! I believe Tundra III may have stumbled upon the real reason why our salmon runs are declining! The damn things are practicing birth control!  graemlins/eek13.gif

I remember once right after I got my boat running ... was anchored next to Pilar upriver of St. Helens... banged a keeper sturgeon right off, double Gaynor was in the Pilar with John, and a green condom floated between our boats. I assumed it was donated to the water from the nude beach on Sauvie Isle, but then again, the Willamette could have brought in down. I already hated condoms...then I REALLY began to hate them! :depressed:

Well guys/gals
at least we all know now that no matter how the fishing was that day, somebody on the Willamete got "lucky"!

After the banana peel insodent, I changed my leader, and sprayed my diver and flasher with WD-40. I did get one of my silvers after then.
