They are still around but you have to go to an ODFW office to get one. They don't furnish them through the regular computers at the sporting goods shops. Not sure why not, but that's the scoop. It also works for any clipped fish:chinook, coho, and steelhead.

Hazen hardware in Clatskanie has them also. It is the only shop in Columbia county that bought them this year.

I guess the people at Wal-Mart just don't have it together then. And I thought they were top notch at thier sporting goods department. graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Maybe the computers here in coos bay are a little slow?!

The hatchery tags are not issued by the ODFW computers. They are hand written. Becasue a vender must pre-pay for them, not all places that have the ODFW computers sell the tags. The cost of hatchery tags that dont get sold are eaten by the vender. So I am told. Most GI Joes have them.

Mad, I'm going to check on them myself today but from what I understand it is a seperate harvest card specifically for finclipped fish only. Basically it allows you to catch a bunch more fish as long as their hatchery fish.

Mad - Your regular salmon steelhead tag has what 20 punches on it??? (BTW - that is 20 more than Catchless and eat needs  ) You have the option to go down and buy a hatchery harvest card that has 10 punches on it. The cost is around $12 each and you can buy as many as you need. You fill this card up with clipped fish, like steelheads, coho, springers etc..... (any where you keep clipped fish) Then you still have 20 punches for fall chinook on the N. coast or any fish that allows you to keep non punched fish. If you dont usually catch 20 fish (BERNIE) you can just put them all on your regular punch card and spend no extra money. last year was the first year they were offered.

Okay, you're a dumb butt....  There, ya got your wish. Get your hatchery now! Like Mini Me said, you can save all your regular license spots for them unclipped nookies.

Now unlike Mini Me the clown....er....clone you will be able to fill the freezer  while he watches his empty crab pots. :hoboy: :hoboy:

These tags are tough to find. When I was over 10 slots this spring I went out searching for these based on what every ODFW agent was telling me. High-school pharmacy sent me to Rite-aid, Rite-aid sent me to Wal-mart, Wal-mart sent me to the Marina, the Marina-sent me to Fred Meyer, this went on for a week or two while I continued to fill my tag. I finally called the state and had them go through their records to find someone close that had the tags. 1 store in the county had them and it was in Clatskanie. So on my next trip through there I picked up one, but by then I was at 19 slots filled.

So that pretty much leaves me out in the cold for keeping fall chinook this year. :depressed: Next year I'm saving gas and calling ODFW first and then picking one or two up early, if they offer them again this year.

Ix-nay on the uplicate-dray.

I mentioned it once before on Ifish and got in rouble-tray

(you are right though that is why many *** Agents refuse to buy them, we can do the math)
