40 feet is good enough .i run 50 but its to much. 2 floats ....
on a strong tide its nice to have another float on a 10 foot rope attached to your other floats you will never loose a pot....good luck

MADWIZERD you are right two floats will get pulled down when the current rips through the middle. Extra float on the top will save waiting for tide change to find them. Crabbed Sat. got 9 in 2 hours then quit as it was too windy.

Anybody doing any crabbing in Nehalem Bay and are you doing any good? Have a nephew out from Kentucky that wants to get some next Monday & Tuesday.
Also any clam tides that weekend?

believe it of not i have been having my best luck with keeper crabs right along the red cans or maybe 5 feet in the channel side between the boat ramp and brighton 10 to 13 feet of water .high slack tide.moving up the bay towards the boat ramp as the crab move up the bay.i normally crab the fishery to the jaws but for some reason this spot has been better for me lately .. last 2 trip average 18-20 keeps with atleat firm-hard enough sheel ,throughing back 20ish soft shell keepers .and getting this in 1 1/2 -2 hours .bait ???shad and the bait you buy there. good luck http://www.millan.net/anims/giffar/smiles.gif

Safeway! A turkey leg and can of tuna with a few holes never fails.
