I have a Ford 302 OMC that's freshwater cooled, but the exhaust manifolds and elbows are raw water cooled. My boat's been getting hot and after replacing the thermostat and no fix I decided to look inside the manifolds. Like I thought the water jackets are pluged with rust.
I'm wondering about having the rust cooked out, but don't know where to take them, any ideas? Also the castings around the manifold bolts are so large that I can't get a socket on the bolt. The only thing I can think of doing is grinding the tip of a socket so I can squeeze it on the bolt head. Has this happened to you?
