I just bought a 300TX and it came with a free temp sensor. The problem is the instructions say to mount the sensor 6" to 8" away from the transducer. I'm wondering if the wires should be that far apart as well. Has anyone done this already? Their tech support is in Abalama and I can't quite get the dialect down

never heard that but you never know , i put my speed and temp on the left side of my pump and my transducer on the right .... so they were both in the same depth of water and the angle would be the same..

I have a 300 tx also,,, I like it alot, turn it on and forget it. I mounted the temp probe about 8" away, both on the left side of boat. It works fine and I have never had a problem. I dont have the speed dealiebob. I just followed the install instructions and only swore twice. Its an easy install. My wires are not that far apart, and its accurate. Hope that helps.

Not sure if this is going to help or not, but I have a Lowrance X75 with speed and temp and I have them mounted about 3" away from each other. I haven't have any issues and from what I can tell it has bother the performance of the finder. Good luck.
