I am taking my 3 nieces fishing this week for their first time and want them to have a good time and catch some fish. Does anybody know of a good Trout pond in the Portland to Salem area? I think a pay to fish place would be a good bet but don’t know any in the area. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a place in North Plains (off Hwy 26) called Hornings Hideout that has trout ponds. Have taken my daughter there a couple of times. Almost guaranteed to catch fish.

Web Page (http://www.horningshideout.com/)

Great place to enjoy the outdoors with kids.

I'll second SS, this is my relatives place and they take very good care of their fish. Some fish in there get over 5lbs and they feed the fish a special diet which enhances the meat. There is also hiking, paddleboats, horseshoes, and alot of other things to do there so if they got bored fishing they can do other things.

Good Luck!

My wife and I took our three grandkids to the Rainbow Trout Farm east of Sandy a week ago and they had a great time. The place has seven ponds with various size fish, up to about 24 inchers, if you want to pay the price. They charge by size of fish and they clean them for you. I don't remember all the prices but they are posted on boards by the ponds. It seems like an 11-12 inch fish was about $3.50. They also have picnic tables and grills if you want to do a picnic thing. Have a great time wherever you go. Taking kids fishing is a priceless experience.

Boedy, don't take them there too many times!

I took my kids to the Rainbow Trout Farm (very nice place!) several times... only to spoil them as to fishing... you could not keep the fish off the hooks. They came to expect all fishing to be that way...

Now my kids (grown) have no interest in fishing... takes too long to catch a fish now that I fish in the rivers and ocean.
