Me and my fishing partner were up on the north santiam today. All in 15 hook-ups and two limits. Small corkies and long light leader. We were out of the water by 10:00 AM.

Where at on the North Santiam? Not very nice telling us you got 15 hook ups but no location. Mehama or up higher? What color corky were you using?

Posted or not stay below the high water mark or in the water and you are fine. After all it is a navigable river

Could anyone give me any advice on the slide below Mehema? I have never been over one, I will bring 50 feet of rope, what else should I know?

The slide is right above Stayton and its relly no big deal. Just stay to the right side of the river before you get there and you should be fine.

what is good water hight for drifting N. santiam. Have only fished it twice.

It's at 3.2 at the mehama gauge which is low and clear. my preference is 3.5 (perfect).
The counts this year have been good so get after them. My humble opinion.

Boedy, nice offer. I float down there once in while, might have to give you a ride down the river.

Boedy, from everyone, thanks for the offer of access to the river. That wouldn't happen to be the short version of last name is it? Not trying to give away any secrets, but know several Boedys in that area and it was a Boedy who introduced my father and I to river fishing and showed us how to drift the river 15 to 20 years ago. Boy talk about a generous family.

The river is starting to get a little bumpy on the Mehama to Stayton drift, but you can still make it. Bring your sandals or waders because if you miss your slot you could be draggin your boat.

Saw on another post from a local guide that said someone sunk there boat TWICE on the upper river at Spencer's Hole. Said the guy was able bail his boat out the first time and went back a couple days later to try and retrieve lost fishin gear and sunk it again. Boy talk about getting right back on the horse after getting bucked off.
