How cool. The ABU -Garcia 2500c! Go to the ABU Garcia Website. Click on Fishermans Factory Outlet Icon and then on Reels.

They have the 2500c available for only $99. For the past couple decades this reel has only been available through the 'International' market line and retailed for about $220.

Looks like the new models have instant ant-reverse roller bearings but still the same ol classic look.

...brings back memories..drifting the Sandy when people used to wonder what that funny double ended boat was all about......hiking through the giant timbers on the backside of the NF Nehalem where only the brave dared go...fishin' the Dam Hole with outfits that were way too light... graemlins/hearton.gif graemlins/hearton.gif graemlins/hearton.gif

I think I should buy one, huh.

I have one of the original 2500c on an old fenglass rod that I packed thru the tall trees to reach the falls on the backside of the NF. with the washout this year it brought back memories of those hikes and the 30 fish days with my Buddy(now gone) Bernie Thibert. I also remember the Dam Hole in the early sixties fishing off the out crop just knowing the next fish would be over 20 lbs and strip me to Wilkes' place. I should buy one of the new 2500c to put on one of my loomis rods and head for the old places again this winter. Thanks for jogging the memory

Never fished with a 2500, but have great memories on the back side of the N. Fork., and the damm hole. Just how many steelhead does a guy want to catch in a day. And my younger buddies wonder why I can't get excited in the winter when a good day is catching 3-4 fish.

Fishbait the next time you are at the dam Hole look over your shoulder up in the tree. There is a plaque for two of the very best who ever fished there Ed Voget and my long time fish friend Bernie Thibert. After it was put up some one used it for target practice. If I ever find out who did it I will prob go to jail for hurting someone real bad.

Bernie kept a log and I know His count for the NF and the Trask exceeded 1500 steelhead. He could catch one in a mud puddle.
