I know I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but I wanted to see how many of you have used your Scotty or Fish-on pole holders to help combat boat swing while sturgeon fishing? My last trip out it finally dawned on me that if I just pulled the pole holder up 1 notch so it could spin, as my boat swayed due to the ******** monster current my poles would counter sway and keep my bait on the bottom! graemlins/idea.gif I've always been upset and usually left when I couldn't stop my boat from swaying but now I can stay and fish! After doing this I then noticed an ad in NW Fishing/Hunting News for a product that is designed specifically to combat the problem, however they want big bucks for it.
Am I the only one that didn't know you could do this with your existing pole holders? If not, I hope this helps others spend more time on the water!

That sounds great....but I bet if you left a tight drag, a "peeler" would break off a rod holder now and then. Not good.
