I know about a year ago this was discussed, but I could not find the thread. My question is.. Is there a 2-cyle engine oil that does not smoke as much as most?? Thanks.

Not that I have ever seen. This is based on both outboards and motorcycles.2 strokes smoke. They also perform and are light in weight compared to an equally powerful 4 cycle engine. For what it's worth,I use Yamalube.Have heard from too many people that is best.
Good Luck in your search.

I've always used Yamalube in my Yamaha,
OMC in my Johnrudes, and Quicksilver in my
Merc. That way the manufacture can never
come back on me and say I use the wrong
oil.

Try Opti Oil
You can usually get it at small engine shops.
It makes less smoke than any oil I have ever seen. It's spendy but well worth the money.
You can buy it it any quantity you want from a small packet to do 1 gallon to a bucket of it <5 gallons> Try it you'll like it!

I was looking though a products flyer from Johnson/evinrude and they advertise a biodegradable oil which does not smoke, smell or leave a sheen on the surface...
Thats about all I know about it.
Anyone ever used it?? I was curious and was going to check on it.

tide runner is on the money. spend the money on synthetic oil, it smokes less and is a lot better on your motor. If you have oil injection on your motor you will need to empty your oil tank before putting in the synthetic.

I've also upped the mix ratio over the years as my motors get older and well broken-in, from the recommended 50:1 to 75 or even 100:1. Never had a problem and a lot less smoke results.

There are two kinds of oil for 2 cycle engines -hard carbon, and soft carbon one is for power saws and motors that get hot like 300 degrees an outboard rariley get to 180 check out what kind you are using and make sure you are using out board oil and not power saw oil
