Jeremy -- This river is not out of shape, but very silty. Most people lay off the river when it gets like this - the feeling is that the silt puts the steelhead off the bite. I dunno though. Certainly, the river is still clear enough to fish - just chalky. I would change tactics perhaps - bigger profile, brighter colors - rely more on scent. Also, early morning might be a bit better. Good luck if you go.

Navigator I fished the sandy today didnt get anything the water was bad. I have fished it when its been off color before but this was not good. It had a brown color to it and you could only see about 2" underwater so it was tuff. A guy said yesturday it was not this bad and it was cool last night so I dont know why it didnt get better but no worries. I went down to river mill on the clack for the first time I didnt get anything but there were springers jumping all over they didnt look so good, but there are steelhead up there too but I didnt see any caught. I had a great day out on the river and talked to a lot of nice people like the nice women at the bait shop in sandy that told me how to get to river mill. Good luck to you all and thanks for the info navigator.

I just got back from the sandy I fished the upper river by the dam the water was a chalky green color but the visibilty was between 1 to 2 feet. I saw tons of fish rolling. I caught two salmon that had just a little color to them but the meat is still a nice red color. I was using a #4 blue fox.
