I spent some time on the phone a couple days ago with my state Rep Betsy Johnson. It was in response to the email letters I sent out a few weeks ago. She apologized for the late response but I was thrilled that I even got a response and a personal one at that! :cool:

I was pleased with the hard stance she has taken in regards to hatchery closures and I truly believe she is there for us.

We talked about the amount of revenue I believe is at risk to the state if these budget cuts are allowed to happen. She went on to say that she believes it was never Kitzhabers plan to close hatcheries. She believed that it was a ploy to get the attention of rural Republican representatives from the state and to use this as a chip in the budget sessions.
Sounds like more partisan politics. :depressed:

Anyways I was very pleased with her stance and her views. These guys and gals have been very busy and I'm impressed with the personal touch!

Kitzhabers plan was just plain politics..... I know it is in vogue to add the "partisan" part these days but that really taints reality in my mind.

When I first became active in the politics of fish, a friend that had been a legislative aide advised me to never forget that politics is indeed a game and needs to be played to win or not played at all.

The D's the R's the I's and the G's all play it.
I guess since they are different parties, it is accurate to say it is "partisan" politics. Since the party system is what we operate under, all politics are "partison".

However, in my mind, the reality is it is just plain politics, as distasteful as it seems at times. :hoboy:
