Ok, 3000+ steelies over Bonneville Dam yesterday!!! Time for Drano and the Big White Salmon to get going!! Anybody checked it out yet?? When I was working in Washington, we'd always start the night fishing on 4th of July, but never really got into them consistently until the count reached 3000 plus.

FishFinder????

Wow -- thats a pretty big jump from the 1700/day at the end of last week. So is this an indicator of run strength throughout the columbia and tribs (Sandy, Willamette-Santiams,Clack), or just the areas above the dam?

We were at H.Creek(if you don't know I am not going to tell) on the Oregon side 2 days ago and at the Big White over the weekend and nothing was happening yet at either. I think the Columbia temp has not been warm enough to really entice the fish into the cooler waters yet, but I have noticed it has been starting to climb fast with this hot weather. I would guess any day and the usual mid Columbia hot spots should be going. Too bad I am leaving for a week of camping with the family and will only be catching 8'' trout.

Billy-bob....idaho fish.. deschutes...grand rhonde...wenatchee...klickitat...many many tribs and lots of places to intercept them.
Last year there were days of 10k or more in
steelhead alone, even mitch and I caught a couple in a very uncrowded setting....you need to expand your horizons... Your side planer is
popular on the big D.

Thats funny -- I was just thinking about posting a request for info on camping and bank maggot fishing on the lower deschutes. So Cap'n Newton, when are we gonna drift the Deschutes?

Bill, I have friends rafting it as we speak. It has some great white water, you should think about a trip with your bride to be. As far as fishing, it will get better and better until fall.
It's still early. Plenty of bank options at any cold water trib up river from bonnie, as in H creek that was mentioned earlier. We need
to talk.
